Koh Surin - Stunning Beach Getaway

Looking for a stunning beach island getaway, look no further than Koh Surin, Thailand. This is your ultimate resource. Access details on accomadation and transportation here. Whether you want to snorkel, hike, or relax, we have you covered with our personalised recommendations.

Surin Islands

Koh Surin

A stunning archipelago in the Andaman Sea, part of Mu Ko Surin National Park. Here you will find vibrant coral reefs, diverse marine life, and pristine white beaches.

The two main islands are Ko Surin Nuea and Ko Surin Tai. These islands are separated by a shallow channel perfect for snorkelling.

You can chill on the sandy beaches and swim in the crystal-clear water, another plus is Koh Surin is not very crowded or touristy so you can enjoy a peaceful experience.

Ko Surin is open only from November 1 to April 30 each year.

Koh Surin isn't the easiest to reach but it's worth it, with different tours to choose from. You can take a speedboat for an hour from Kur Aburi Pier (Khuraburi Pier) or an hour and a half from Khao Lak. From Phuket, it's about two hours.

Travelling to Khuraburi first to book your trip is usually more cost-effective and efficient. The exception is if you’re going with a diving operation, as they have their own boats and don’t depend on the Khuraburi pier.

There are no public or national park-arranged boats going to Ko Surin if you are planning on staying, so you have to go on a tour. You have to let the tour know you're staying.

Camping or a bungalow is the only way to stay here, the camping is directly on the beach

There are a few websites where you don't have to contact the tour companies directly. Here they are:

Or you could just do a day tour:

Snorkelling Tours: Koh Surin is known for its coral reefs and diverse marine life, and snorkelling is a popular activity on the island. You can take a snorkelling tour to explore the reefs and see many fish and other sea creatures and return on the same day.

For those of you staying:

At the campsite on Koh Surin, there are daily tours provided by whoever you booked with, and easy access to explore the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding area. The tents are on the pristine beachfront, and the campsite offers breathtaking views and the soothing sound of waves, you don't have to go out every day you can relax on the beach instead.

Campsite Koh Surin

Also at the campsite, there's a Thai restaurant nearby. They serve Western food, but the Western food they serve is not the best. However, if you're a fan of so-called American breakfasts, such as plastic-looking sausages, two eggs, ham and salad, you'll be happy to know they serve it here, even though it's not American. I'd call it Asian breakfast, to be honest, as it's only sold in Asia. Although, if you want some flavour, you might want to try Thai food instead. No alcohol is sold anywhere in the National Park! Including this restaurant. So, keep that in mind! you'll have to detox for some time if you stay here!

Restaurant Koh Surin

You should check out the Moken Village and it'll definitely be on any tour. It's a place where you can interact with the local sea tribe, the sea gipsies who have a special connection to this island. You can hop on a boat and visit them, and they will greet you with open arms. They even speak their own language! (Not Thai) It's a rare opportunity to learn about their culture and lifestyle.

Another thing you can do is explore the island on foot and discover some amazing views of the ocean. There are hiking trails that will take you to different spots where you can enjoy the scenery and take some photos.

This island in Thailand is a hidden gem that offers stunning scenery, pristine beaches, and rich marine life. You will love Koh Surin for its beauty, tranquillity, and culture. It is the perfect place to relax and explore.

TRANSPORT

I know I'm repeating myself here from earlier but I have to, it fits the section!

How to get there:

If you're starting in Kur Aburi Pier, you can take a one-hour speedboat ride to the island. This is included in many tour packages, so it's a convenient option if you're planning on doing other activities on the island as well.

Alternatively, if you're coming from Khao Lak, you can take a 90-minute speedboat ride to Koh Surin. This is also included in many tour packages, so it's a hassle-free way to get to the island.

If you're starting in Phuket, you can take a two-hour boat ride to Koh Surin. This option is a bit longer than the other two, but it's still a great way to get to the island.

Once you arrive on Koh Surin, there are no cars or motorbikes allowed on the island. This means that the only way to get around is on foot or by boat. However, the island is small enough that you can easily explore it on foot.

If you want to stay on the island, you'll need the following link

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation in Koh Surin is very limited.

The campsite has tents available for rent, which can accommodate up to two people. Each tent comes with a mattress and pillow. If you prefer something a bit more substantial, there are also bungalows available for rent. These bungalows are made from wood and thatch and offer a bit more privacy than the tents.

The campsite also has a restaurant that serves Thai food and some basic Western options. While the food may not be the highlight of your stay, the views certainly will be. The campsite is located right on the beach, so you can wake up to stunning views every day.

You can book this below.
