Sri Ratcha

Si Racha, often spelt Sriracha, is a coastal district in Chonburi Province, Thailand, located about 30 kilometres northeast of Pattaya. People often use the name Laem Chabang as it is the name of the is a port city in Si Racha.

You'll soon notice the area is an industrial centre, Si Racha houses many factories and companies, especially in the electronics and automotive sectors, making it a vital area for business and commerce. The district is also famous for its fresh seafood, thanks to the nearby fishing ports. Well-connected by road, Si Racha is easily accessible from Bangkok, Pattaya, and other neighbouring provinces, so let us dive into what you can expect to see and do when you're here.

J Park Nihon Mura:
The area is a trading hotspot in Thailand and Thailand has very good trade relations with Japan. This place brings a taste of Japan to Thailand for Japanese traders who come here and a fun experience for people from everywhere else, including locals. Its architecture is inspired by traditional Japanese village designs. The mall uses seasonal decorations and festival themes. Japanese food is available at many restaurants. There are also many shops here, so it's like a themed shopping area.

Khao Phra Khru Monastery

The Khao Phra Khru Monastery is a serene place to come over looking at the ocean. Seek solace for the soul or beauty for the eyes, the Khao Phra Khru Monastery is a gem worth visiting. Khao Phra Khru Monastery is a gem worth visiting.

I'm a bit confused as to what religion this monastery belongs to, clearly Hindu but with Buddhist monks, perhaps both religions are practised here. In Asian culture more than one religion is often practised because they don't believe in a single god that punishes people, however this can be quite pushy for donations so be warned.

A guided tour is not necessary here, but there are a couple available if you wish to enhance your experience. You can find links to these tours on this site.

The Island is close to Koh Loy Pier which is accessible by a bridge to the mainland.

Phra Chudadhuj Palace is on this island, the former royal palace of King Chulalongkorn, an important figure in Thai history known for modernizing the country in the early 20th century. You can admire the palace's intricate designs and learn about its significance here.

Currently, part of the palace is a University named after the King. King Chulalongkorn University the palace for its "Sichang Marine Science Research and Training Station" and has established the Chutathut Palace Museum, dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the palace.

Some more interesting history.

During the 17th century, the area had frequent visits from ships of the Dutch East India Company. Not much evidence of that now though. Shortly after, the island was noted as being occupied by "a few fishermen" who cultivated yams, bananas, capsicums, gourds, and cucumbers.

There is a main island and some tiny islands around it you can visit, with absolutely gorgeous beaches, plus the islands are not well known so keep this little hidden gem to yourself hey ;)

You can even spend the night here take a look at Booking.com

But I would recommend Agoda as it's focused on Asia specifically.

Commerce

While Si Racha offers a fair amount of activities and attractions, it is primarily a bustling centre of commerce rather than a typical tourist hotspot. The district is known for its thriving industrial scene and local business, which can overshadow its leisure offerings. However, you will find that Si Racha still holds charm and interest, with a unique cultural experiences waiting to be explored. You can also enjoy the scenic coastline full of big ships, or visit attractions like the Khao Khiao Open Zoo, Si Racha is well worth a visit for those looking to experience a different side of Thailand away from the usual tourist trails.

Choosing the best mode of transportation from Bangkok to Laem Chabang depends on your priorities.

If cost is a major factor, the bus is the most economical option, with services like Sriracha Tour and TCL Van offering tickets as low as $3-$6 for a 2-hour journey

These buses often provide amenities such as air-conditioning, reclining seats, and onboard toilets, making the trip comfortable despite its length.

For those who prioritize convenience and time, a taxi can get you there in about 1 hour and 17 minutes, offering a flexible and direct route to your destination. It's a more private experience.

ACCOMMODATION

Personal Recommendation

Holiday Inn

It's pretty typical, I know, but the food here is amazing, and the breakfast is great. The hotel also has a hot tub, swimming pool, a large gym, comfy beds, and fantastic views. What's not to love? Plus, there are plenty of food options right across from the hotel.

Me and the wife come here often.

Sri Ratcha is a small place where everything is close, you have to drive or get a taxi to get anywhere anyway.
